This is a highly requested recipe, and thank you for letting me know what recipes you’d like to see!
There are so many benefits to making your own DIY natural lip gloss recipe. For one, it nourishes your lips in a way that traditional, store-bought lip gloss doesn’t typically do.
For another, when you make your own lip gloss, you will reduce the number of nasty chemicals and preservatives found in commercial beauty products.
My favorite reason to make my own lip gloss? I can completely customize it to my liking! Whether I want a bold mauve or a subtle pink, I can make it however I want.

How do you make natural lip gloss at home?
This is a really fun activity that is so simple, I was surprised it took me so long to try. Here is all you need:
- Add ingredients to a double boiler until everything is melted.
- Once melted, remove from the double boiler and whisk to combine. Add optional ingredients to your liking.
- Use a syringe to fill up your lip gloss tubes. Add cap and let cool.
What are the best ingredients for homemade lip gloss?
For a homemade lip gloss, I love to add a few different oils that will soften your lips as well as create a lip gloss texture that will hold for a long period of time.
Which oil is best for lips?
It’s no secret that I love 100% grass-fed tallow, so if you are able to add it, I strongly encourage you to try adding it to your own homemade lip gloss. It is absolutely amazing for skin!
Troubleshooting & frequently asked questions
What is the easiest way to add lip gloss to the container?
Once I have prepared the lip gloss and allowed it to cool down, I will use a syringe to suck up some of the mixture and fill up the container.
My lip gloss is too watery, what should I do?
First, make sure it isn’t warm still. As it cools your lip gloss should become thicker. If not, try adding an additional tablespoon of tallow or cocoa butter to thicken it up.

How much liquid Sunflower Lecithin do you use in the recipe, I thought the video said 3 Tbsp but that is a whole lot more than what I figured the capsules had it in so just wanting to confirm the correct amount? Thanks
The link for sunflower lecithin took me to a liquid sunflower lecithin on Amazon. I purchased that, but now don’t know how much of the liquid lecithin to add to the recipe. Please help!
Hi is the sunflower lectin like a preservative or just to thicken. The mica is dyed?
